Whether you know it or not, you’re already part of a tribe. If you’re at all familiar with Seth Godin, then you probably know what I’m talking about. My tribe? My Boss Babe Besties. We are four of women, wives, mothers, daughters, and business owners (with 2 kids born within 20 months!) who founded and run our own successful, fast-growing businesses in North Vancouver for the last several years. We are a naturopathic doctor, a dentist, a personal trainer, and a lawyer. We share together, learn together, grow together, and w(h)ine together!
More Than Friends
What makes us a tribe goes beyond our friendship; we share the same cause (to improve the lives of families and nurture the beautiful community around us) and face similar challenges in our different fields. We are part of an incredible North Vancouver community that supports each of us and each other through this journey. The value of our tribe is completely related to the how much we can connect to each other personally and professionally.
The Secret
There’s a common misconception that, when building your tribe, more is more. The trick instead is to focus on making it tight, not growing it and making it big. Our strong bonds are forged in this community that we’ve built in, not out. It allows us all to be fully ourselves, cry tears of gratitude and sadness, share the deepest challenges that we face in business and at home, and come out the other side refreshed, reflected, and inspired. It’s like therapy for every part of us. We just get each other.
We’ve all heard the saying “It takes a village”, and when it comes to building a tribe, no statement rings more true. The Boss Babe Besties are my core, but we’re not just 4 musketeers doing it for ourselves, we share our communities too. Together, we are greater than the sum of our parts.
